Vitaly Petrov has stood down from his function as a driver steward for the Portuguese Grand Prix weekend, due to a private bereavement.
A press release from the FIA, issued after qualifying at Portimao, learn: “As a result of a private bereavement, the Driver Steward for the 2020 FIA Components 1 Portuguese Grand Prix, Vitaly Petrov, won’t proceed together with his duties for the rest of the weekend.
“The ideas of the FIA are with Vitaly and his household presently.”
Petrov, 36, is the primary Russian to have competed within the Components 1 World Championship and was known as up as a steward forward of this weekend’s Grand Prix at Portimao.
FIA Components E and FIA WTCR Security Automobile driver Bruno Correia will take over stewarding duties for the race from Petrov this weekend.
